Great Room Redesign

These home owners wanted to add color and create a cozy feel in their great room. Looking out their windows at the beautiful view, we were inspired by the lush green hillside and decided to bring those outdoor colors in. Since they may list the home for sale in the next year, we worked with a modest budget and purchased all off the rack locally available products to save on shipping charges.

Below is a selection of the fabrics and accessories I chose for them in colors straight from a tropical garden.

The bamboo blinds have a little green in them to coordinate with the curtains and the dark colored weave really pops behind the chocolate leather sofa!

In the dining room we replaced the existing rug with an all weather sisal style from Home Depot. I then recovered the chair seats and bar stools in a great leafy print. The fabric is an indoor outdoor acrylic so spills should come off easily! The blinds and curtains really warm up the space, hanging them all as high as I could around the room makes the windows appear larger and emphasizes the height of the great vaulted ceilings. The addition of a few soft throw pillows and blankets for cozy color really finished off the new look. All fabrics, curtain panels, blinds and curtain rods are in stock at the Lagnappe downtown location - inside Island Empire's furniture show room. This is a look you can do this weekend!

A new interior for a classic yachtsloop before after lagnappe st thomas

Last summer, the owner of this cute little sloop came to us for help with the boats interior cushions. You can tell from the before pictures that the cushions were original and over 30 years old! (Not to mention very uncomfortable to sleep on!) The new 5 inch thick foam provides the comfort and the Sunbrella fabric is practical and adds a fun splash of color. The big Sunbrella covered throw pillows are great for lounging on deck with that sunset gin and tonic. Cheers! To another sailor living the life.

A fabulous family getaway spot

This family great room has everything going for it including a fantastic view! The homeowners wanted to add curtain panels to soften and dress up the wide expanse of windows. There are so many great window how to tips in these pictures I almost don't know where to start. First the corner windows, the curtain rods connect and turn the corner to keep that seamless look going. Next notice the coral stone pillars. The rods don't go through but we tried to make it look like they might. Third, the vertical stripe in the panels helps add height to a very wide expanse of glass. Lastly notice the coral branch pattern on the top cuff of the curtain panels, thanks to the folks at Island Empire furniture we were able to have the slipcover for the club chair made in the same fabric. The finished product is a great family get away spot and a great success story!
