The Design Details

Moving from the cottage on the 300-year-old sugar plantation to the main family home meant it was time to update the main house. It was important to preserve the history and character of the home that had been in the client’s family for more than 50 years.

Several spaces were reimagined in ways that increased function and beauty including the master bath that now features a beautiful walk-in shower and double vanity along with a larger closet. A simple change in bed orientation in the master bedroom completely transformed the space which now accommodates a king-size bed and allows the owner to wake to views of Magen’s Bay each morning.

As old homes always do, this project delivered a sweet surprise when we discovered a fully working wood-fired bread oven behind old cabinetry in the kitchen.
