However, we firmly believe everyone deserves access to design services and the joy of creating beautiful spaces. That’s why Lagnappe offers a variety of solutions and services that are customizable to your […]

Great Design Is In The Details – Elevate Your Guest Experience With Great Planning The great Charles Eames once said, “The details are not the details. They make the design.” I really could not agree more. I would go a little further to say that you cannot get the details right unless you plan them […]
After spending five days at Highpoint, I feel invigorated with fresh ideas. This trip was longer than my typical three-day stay, allowing me to connect and explore even more. During the first two days, I attended the Vacation Rental Design Summit, where I spoke on two panels. The summit was created in response to the […]
Grasscloth wallpaper is popular for those looking to add an organic vibe and create warmth in their home. We love layering grasscloth alongside various tactile finishes and colors available to suit all decor styles. It’s one of my favorites and provides any space with a beautiful, textured, and timeless look. As much as we adore […]
For those unfamiliar with the Kips Bay event, it started in Kips Bay, New York, and was so popular that it has now expanded to Palm Beach. This is one of the most significant charity events in the design industry annually. Even the home is donated. All proceeds go to the local Boys and Girls […]
When my daughter was younger, every time we dropped her off at a camp, sailing regatta, or even the first day of school, we always said to have fun, make new friends, and learn something new. Those are our family’s markers of a successful experience. So by those standards, the trip to KBIS with the […]
In just a few days, I’m heading to kitchen and bath show in Las Vegas, and I can’t wait to see what’s new this year. Las Vegas is a LONG flight from the STT Airport, and the trip is a real-time commitment, not to mention the expense. So, it needs to be worth it–and let me […]
I love the new year’s peace, the quiet reflection of New Year’s Day, and the break we all get in our usual hustle and bustle of a work week. If you haven’t already, be sure to find the time to sit down and think about your goals and resolutions for this year. Every new year […]
This Fall, I had the opportunity to assist one of my favorite furniture vendors in styling a photo shoot for their 2023 catalog. It was an incredible experience! I’ve done many in-home photoshoots and have learned so much over the years about styling, camera angles, different perspectives, and more from the amazing Don Hebert, but […]
Anyone who knows me knows I love a good before and after transformation. The big reveal days keep me coming back for more in this job! When I first met this client, he had just purchased this home and contacted us because it wasn’t exactly his style. He wanted to update the furnishings and add […]
Last Spring, I had the pleasure of being part of a panel discussion at High Point Market with other well-respected designers who work in the luxury home space. The topic was working with the luxury buyer. After about an hour of lively discussion, an audience member asked a question of the panelists, “Why is this […]

Will you be purchasing goods through your designer? The two most frightening words to an interior design client are markup and custom! So let’s talk about how designers buy for you and why you might actually really want custom items in your home, and how that markup – scary word that it is – can […]
Flat Rate Billing The first thing to note about this form of billing is that in order to do this effectively, the designer has to have been in business long enough to collect data from numerous projects that inform their rates. This gives them the ability to estimate how many hours they spend on average […]
As an industry, I think designers do a terrible job of conveying to the public how we charge. The differences in the industry are also not helping us to build trust among the general public. Most prospective clients who contact me have no idea what they should expect regarding pricing. In comparison, those who have […]

Today is my first day back in the office after vacation, so please pardon me for the philosophical post. I’m still in the vacation mindset. My daughter and I spent a fun-filled week in Paris with my dad. I admire a few things about my dad’s approach to retirement, one being his habit of traveling […]

When this homeowner called us about a new home she was purchasing, I had an […]

Still, we love requests for fun Caribbean colors from our clients. Honestly, not using color to us is a missed opportunity, and we’ve got our color schemes down to a science. 1. Make a (Back) […]

When decorating or designing a home in the Caribbean, many choices are informed by the island environment and lifestyle. The factors that drew us to want a home in this location to begin with need to be considered in the design; otherwise, it’s just another stateside home. The climate and the access to water sports […]
The bathroom area is one of the most intimate spaces in a home, and there are a number of factors that go into the bathroom vanity you choose. It is where time is spent winding down and presents an opportunity to create a more luxurious experience for the user through design. We love working in […]

Whether a full or half-bath, working with your space to find a lighting combination that works for your routine can be a game-changer. Staying in your home is completely possible, but taking time to prepare for several weeks or months of disruption in your home […]
Let’s talk about luxury bedding, not just the beauty aspect of it, but what really goes into a well-made bed. It’s all about layers and textures. I love luxury linens, and it’s items like these we like to incorporate when we design a special bedroom retreat for our clients. The biggest focus is what will […]

The amount of space and how you make use of it can make the greatest impact on your interiors. At Lagnappe, this is one of the first things we look at when starting a project so we can get a feel of what we’re working with. We were recently featured on Redfin, where we had the opportunity to share a few tips on different ways to expand the feel of your home and we wanted to keep the conversation going!
Limited space can be, well, limiting when it comes to how much you can do with a space. Most people are looking for ways to open up a room and create the feeling of more space and an accent wall can help with just that.
By hiring a designer, you are taking the next step and going beyond just making your home beautiful, which is why we have outlined exactly what it means to work with an interior designer.
Our anticipation has been bubbling over, and we are beyond ecstatic to finally be joining our fellow bloggers and designers at High Point Market this fall. We consider it an honor and a privilege to be included among this talented group of design professionals.
In some ways, this time last year doesn’t look too different for us. For that, we feel very fortunate. Many of our clients reside off the island during the course of their projects. Because of this, our collaboration with them started and has continued to be done online. Now, everyone who would normally be in the office is logging in from their home office. Thanks to our previous set up we’ve been able to pivot with them seamlessly. The difference we are witnessing now is a significant shift that is driving some new trends in design that we are incredibly excited about.
When ROI is a factor and the only thing going for this 1986 condo is the location and the view we knew we needed to make some creative interior design decisions.

Summer is a season of relaxation. Creating an outdoor living space that is both practical and luxurious requires finesse. From the planning stage to selecting furniture that will stand the test of time in a coastal climate, I am happy to share what I have learned with you.
I love Caned furniture. Currently, it is having a moment in the world of design and home fashion. Of course, in our part of the world, it’s never gone out of style. The open weave’s flexibility is comfortable to sit on and offers much-needed airflow in our hot climate. The unique look of the square in a square pattern and natural material is a staple in Caribbean homes and has been for centuries.
Caribbean Architecture is known for many things. Like the island’s history, its influences go back centuries when different practices and design trends were utilized to accomplish what some modern-day technology has replaced and climate has impacted. Through it all, we are still able to walk through downtown Charlotte Amalie and see the signature signs of Caribbean Architecture in its most natural forms. I connected with my friend Kevin Qualls from Springline Architects to dig into more information on what architecture is like in the Caribbean.
Designers make references throughout the space, and together they tell a story. What story do we want the home to tell? Many factors influence that answer, from the client’s unique life experiences and lifestyle to the home’s architecture and location.
When we start a new bathroom design, we love to start with the tile. There are so many options to choose from it can sometimes be hard to decide.
The perfect color combination can turn an ordinary room into an extraordinary room. Color helps shape the way we perceive a space and there are countless libraries of inspiration. Here is how we find inspiration for coastal island home color palettes.
If you have a coastal vacation home, especially one that you rent out short-term, AIRBNB style, then you know that the choice of furnishings is so important for so many more reasons. You know you need things that are durable, but they should also be stylish, comfortable, and easy to clean.
You may have heard the buzz words mood board and design board before. Especially if you are familiar with the interior design industry. These two terms are often used interchangeably, but they are actually two different things.
A client of ours wanted her children to be able to experience living and having their home in Saint Thomas while being able to rent the home out by the week to vacationers on Airbnb to provide extra income for expenses related to upkeep.
We are sharing a little about the colors selected to set the tone for 2021 by a few different sources. Later, we will reveal our favorite selection with you and how to incorporate our favorite color selection into your interiors.
Christmas time is a special time all over the world. The twinkle of lights and joyous music in the air make spirits bright and call loved ones together to celebrate. Family traditions take center stage, and the razzle-dazzle of the season makes every day brighter during this festive time.
2020 will forever have its place in the history books as the year that everything changed. Life, as we knew it earlier this year, seems so far away now, and look how far we have come. I don’t think any of us anticipated the magnitude or the lasting impact COVID has had and will continue to have on our society going forward.
The kitchen is the heart and soul of many homes. As you and your families begin to plan and prepare for the holiday season, you may find yourself spending a lot more time in this area of your home if you haven’t already been this year. Because of the kitchen’s larger footprint, we thought it would be best to devote a blog article to include anything and everything in its own entry. If you plan on remodeling or updating aspects of your kitchen, there are quite a few things to consider.
We have the preparation for a successful vacation rental down to a science when it comes to curating the best materials that make guests feel right at home, and here they are.
Art comes in many forms. Over the course of history these different forms, genres, media, and styles have blossomed into waves of purpose for creatives to do what they love. Their purpose improves the lives of those who have come to know and discover them in their local communities or their places of travel. We brought our St. Thomas artists straight to you via our Caribbean Artist Series on our Instagram. If you haven’t had a chance to watch our IG LIVE series, here is our mini artist showcase to inspire and delight your day.
For as long as there’s been great design, there’s design that just didn’t age well. I’m sure we all remember popcorn ceilings, shag rugs, glass block—the list goes on. We have put together some of the most famous design faux pas to make sure you avoid these traps yourself.
Has your television intake increased over the past couple of months? It seems like almost every big event is being televised or streamed to ensure everyone is able to still enjoy their experience while staying safe. For some, being in front of the camera can be a little nerve-wracking, especially if you have never done it before.
