4 Trends from HPMKT – Spring ’24

High Point Market offers the latest and highest quality in furnishings, trends, and networking opportunities for the interior design industry, its creative businesses, and professionals. We look forward to visiting every year as we firmly believe that travel and unique experiences help shape our minds and fuel our inspiration while keeping us at the forefront of the latest technology and design solutions. We’re sharing some noteworthy trend insights we are most excited about and those making a significant impact to bring your home to the next level.

  1. Seeing a Wave of Green

You heard it here first–grey is dead, and green is thriving this year, symbolizing a return to nature and a focus on sustainability. In case you can’t tell, we are overjoyed and looking most forward to this trend for 2024. We felt refreshed and energized by the number of green textiles and furniture finishes gracing the market showroom floors. We are noticing increasing shades of green, from moody emeralds to soft sages, to create calming and rejuvenating spaces full of depth and visual interest.

This growing trend is not just a fad, but a movement. It aligns perfectly with the popular biophilic design movement, which emphasizes the connection between humans and nature. Environmental touches like lush indoor plants, repurposed art or furniture are all eco-friendly elements that support a sustainable lifestyle. This trend reassures us that we can all create beautiful interiors responsibly.

  1. Organic Shapes in Furniture Design

Another trend that is flowing along with the green movement is the use of organic shapes in furniture design. Paying homage to forms typically found in nature, these organic curves and flowing lines push typical furniture pieces to appeal to a more relaxed and welcoming aesthetic.

The traditional structures and clean lines still have their place, but we are noticing more and more organic shapes picking up steam in the form of rounded-edge nightstands, as well as curves in upholstered pieces with no signs of slowing down.

  1. Bringing Organic Textures from Nature to Your Interiors

Contributing to the sustainability theme this year are organic textures and materials. Mediums like exposed wood, unfinished stone, and natural fibers are being utilized for dining tables, coffee tables, rugs, wallpaper, and more.

These organic features provide depth and interest to every aspect of a room. This organic texture influence offers a more tactile experience that appeals to all your senses as you engage with a space. Its allure can be compared to that innate connection we all share when we encounter forms in nature that offer us a break from the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day activities.

  1. Bunching or Nesting Tables

For those unfamiliar with bunching or nesting tables, these usually come in two or more small tables around similar heights to be used separately or together to create a larger surface. This technique allows for versatility within a space and is another unique way to add interest to a room. This trend also follows the organic mindset of various elements displayed at multiple heights for a layered effect, similar to how flowers or other plants grow at different heights.

We hope our HPMKT trend insights have inspired you to try something new or to embrace the green movement in all its glory. For more scenes from market visit our Instagram.

What we loved most about these trends is how they relate to how we authentically live our island life. At the end of the day, we are all part of nature, and we feel our best and most rejuvenated after a day at the beach or a walk in the park. Let us help you bring these trends, our decades of experience, quality of work, and thoughtful Caribbean style to your vacation home, rental, or island-inspired oasis.
