Once a year I travel to the international furnishing show at High Point Market in North Carolina.  I look forward to this show all year; I get so inspired each time I visit!  As much as I love our little island and draw inspiration from the beauty that is around us, a girl needs to get off the rock from time to time.  The show is an excellent opportunity to network with other designers to find out what they are currently loving for their clients and to work with our favorite vendors to place orders for new items that will refresh our showroom.  After the success of the introduction of our new fabric program last year I definitely had to go back for more, so stay tuned for lots of fresh new fabrics to peruse in the studio in the very near future!  I’m always on the look out for things that have the perfect look for our island lifestyle but are also practical.  Let’s face it, island lifestyle means beautiful AND durable.  Here are some of my favorites from this year’s trip!

Places to Relax

I loved these fresh fabrics and unique details. If you love something you see, be sure to contact me – lots of these vendors ship to the islands!

This is a new line of outdoor fabrics with patterns that are perfect for Caribbean living.  Soft to touch and washable, I believe I’ll be using these indoors as well!
So much to love in this space! Bold hot pink is so daring but my favorite aspect is the embroidery on the roman shade.  Subtle but a great couture detail!
Love the turquoise blue sectional.  So many clients are reqquesting “U” shaped pieces right now, they are so cozy and conversational.
Rattan is always a good choice in the islands.  This chair has a fresh, updated look and the carved coffee table is fun too.
Another great “U” sectional here. It’s one of my favorite ways to decorate: invest in quality large pieces like the sofa then add the color with the smaller items like the pillows.  This makes it easy to change your look as often as you like!
Texture, texture, texture!  Any of these chairs would be wonderful to add interest to a neutral palette.
Love the weave on the back of this chair.
 More great texture.
Swing chairs are so much fun!  This one will be on display in our showroom soon…
Looking for a slightly funky, boho interpretation of tropical design?  Look no further!

Places to Sleep

The bedding and furniture options were just too many to count! Thinking of doing a bedroom refresh? These ideas will get your creative juices flowing.

Great modern look for a canopy bed.
Flamingoes are just fun!  I had to snap this picture for my daughter who has always loved pink.
This board and batten style bed frame is so coastal and makes me think of the current trend toward shiplap!
Nautical decor anyone?  Not sure I’d use all these pieces together but mixed with some simple white bedding as well it could be sophisticated.

Lighting and Details

Add a dramatic element to a room with some of these unique details.

Coral branch lighting! This would look fantastic in a number of places
I’ve used this shell-covered chest before in a couple of client homes and it’s always a show stopper!
So much fun tropical color here!
Yes, again with the coral-themed lighting!
This unique piece is the perfect size for a breakfast table.
I really couldn’t get over this chandelier and had to share. It’s chrocheted, yes, as in with yarn. It’s not super practical but really unique!
Show stopping mirror here!  Love the look of white dimensional accessories on a dark background!
